Heading out with your dog?
Although the Parish has and welcomes responsible Dog Owners and their pets, please note that Seasonal Dog Restrictions – banning dogs between the hours of 10am and 6pm, July 1st to August 31st inclusive – apply on the following beaches:
Portwrinkle Harbour and Hoodny Beach (Hoodny is the beach to the west of Portwrinkle Harbour). See link to Cornwall Council Public Spaces Protection Order (dogs of beaches). https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/environment/animal-welfare-and-enforcement/dogs-on-beaches/
There is NO seasonal dog ban on Finnygook beach (this is the beach directly below the Jolly Roger cafe and leading westwards over the rockpool area towards the Harbour – so dogs are welcome at all times. However please note that dogs will not be permitted on the harbour itself or Hoodny beach during the seasonal restriction times (10am-6pm July 1st to August 31st inclusive), so they will have to leave either via the pathway leading back to the road above the harbour (tricky exit as high level step/rock to clamber up from rockpool area) or return back via Finnygook beach, tide dependant – please note tide times prior to your visit .
ALL beaches, Public spaces and footpaths are covered by the Public spaces Protection Order, failure to clean up after your dog or leave litter/dog waste bags can result in a fine. Please respect others and keep dogs under control/in sight.
Please be aware that Sheviock Parish Council employs an Enforcement Officer who can issue FPNs.
Crafthole Playpark has a year round dog ban 24/7.
Open Space Gym and games area area adjacent to the play park – Please keep Dogs on Leads.
